THE 2019 ROVING EYE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

International Festival Enters 14th Year in Collaboration with Roger Williams University and Curated by University Students

(BRISTOL, RI:) The 14th Annual Roving Eye International Film Festival at Roger Williams University, presented in collaboration with in collaboration with the Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film, kicks off April 8th and runs through the 14th. This year’s programming features over 70 films from across the world including Academy Award nominees and winners, numerous World and US Premieres; panel discussions/symposia; visiting filmmakers and student film showcases. The event will conclude with the Spring 2019 Edwin S. Soforenko Foundation Film/Speaker Series On The Jewish Experience.

Students at the University, with the guidance of Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, create the Roving Eye International Film Festival through the Film Minor senior course, “Curation and Film Festival Production.” Flickers’ Executive Director and RWU Professor, George T. Marshall teaches the senior-level course. Students spent the first part of the spring semester reviewing more than 500 films and create, curate and market the entire event.

Soforenko Foundation, RWU School of Humanities, Arts and Education, Dean Cynthia Scheinberg, RWU Department of Communication, Graphic Design and Web Development, Dr. Roxanne O’Connell, Department Chair, RWU Hillel, THE RWU HAWK’S HERALD, The RWU Musician’s Guild, The RWU Inter-Residence Hall Association (IRHA) and the RWUAmerican Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and the Spiritual Life Office.

ABOUT FLICKERS’ RHODE ISLAND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL:

The Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) has secured its place in the global community as the portal for the best in international independent cinema, earning the respect of domestic and foreign filmmakers, film goers and trend watchers.
