Artists Accepted Into the Textures Juried Exhibition

The Pawtucket Arts Collaborative is delighted to announce the artists whose work was accepted into the Textures juried show. They are: Mark Babbidge, Jillian Barber, Gregory J. Barry, Sandra K. 194 entries were submitted; 63 were chosen. Juror Rich Watrous reports that it was difficult to choose only 6 pieces as the works submitted were of high quality and interest.

PAC hopes that you’ll be able to join us for the opening of the Textures Juried Fall Show on Thursday, September 12th from 5:30-7:30 pm. Refreshments will be provided by Lisa Champagne Morgan and others, the wine will flow, and there’ll be great music by Paul Williams.
 
There will be five prizes awarded: First Prize, $500; Second Prize, $250; Third Prize, $100; and two honorable mentions, each receiving $50.
 
The reception will be in our Mill Gallery, 560 Mineral Spring Avenue, First Floor, in Pawtucket. We are located across the street from International Packaging, and near Save-A-Lot supermarket and Lorraine Fabrics. Our first floor door is located next to Mixed Magic Theater. You may enter through the first floor door, or go in through the building’s basement door. Turn right at the door, and climb the stairs to the first floor. Take a left and go into the gallery’s side door. 

In collaboration with the Pawtucket Arts Festival, PAC is running four workshops for everyone in its Mill Gallery on Wednesday, September 18th and Saturday and Sunday September 21st and 22nd. They are as follows:

Wednesday, September 18 3:00 pm-6:00 pm
*Game of Thrones Themed Oil Painting Demonstration by Jan Gendron
Jan will demonstrate techniques in using oil painting to do portraits, using a model dressed as a Game of Thrones character. Free although a $5 donation towards the model fee is appreciated. Participants can work alongside Jan. Open to the public.

Open Portraiture Drawing Session organized by Frank Lally

Join the regular Saturday drawing session for an open Portraiture session with a clothed model. The session is free although a $4 donation towards the model fee is appreciated.

Color Play Oil Painting Workshop with Rina Naik

Rina will demonstrate the uses of color in oil painting, exploring hue, value, saturation, temperature, and color palettes. The session is free although a $5 donation towards materials is appreciated. Participants can work alongside Jan.

Collage Workshop with Lin Collette

Collage has been used by many artists to create works of art for decades and more. Come spend an afternoon “playing with paper” using a variety of materials. All materials are provided but if you’d like to bring some of your own to work with, that’s great. The session is free although a $5 donation towards materials is appreciated.

*The Pawtucket Arts Collaborative can provide chairs but there are a limited number of easels available for use in painting and drawing workshops. If you have an easel, please bring it. Participants should be able to bring their own drawing materials and paints.
