Shawmut’s St. Cecelia’s Parish Project Makes
Engineering News Record’s Best Construction Photos of 2010
Boston, MA– January 11, 2011 – Shawmut Design and Construction’s multi-million dollar historic restoration of St. Cecelia’s Parish in Boston is more than simply divine, it’s award winning. A photo of the project taken by Shawmut employee and Norton resident, Ben Johnson, was recently showcased by ENR (Engineering News Record) as one of 2010’s best construction photos in its annual awards roundup issue.

The photo, which features a birds-eye view of the $11 million dollar restoration project, captures the symmetry of blending modern equipment with traditional elements. “I had just finished photographing the ceiling mosaics when I noticed the light streaming through the stained glass windows which illuminated the scaffolding,” said Ben Johnson, Shawmut Photographer. “The light was so perfect that I couldn’t help but be struck by the resulting symmetrical pattern as I looked down the length of the church.”
Ben’s photo was chosen as one of 32 winning images in ENR’s annual contest. The magazine fielded 1,839 entries before narrowing the field down to the winning photos.
