NAFCU Merges With Sharon Credit Union

August 7th, 2008 · No Comments

North Attleborough branch dedicated to Ed Lambert

The North Attleborough Federal Credit Union took the final step and merged with the Sharon Credit Union on July 31. The grand opening was to be held during the D.A.N.A. Block Party which had been cancelled due to expected bad weather, but that didn’t stop a small crowd from gathering for the ceremonies.

The North Attleborough branch of Sharon Credit Union was dedicated to Edward G. Lambert, Jr., who was president of the NAFCU for almost 30 years when he died this past January. Ed led the credit union through tremendous growth, enabling local residents and businesses to get funding for a variety of needs.

He was also past president of Downtown Associates of North Attleborough, running their annual Santa Parade for many years; an active member of St. Mary’s Church who served on the St. Mary’s-Sacred Heart School board of directors; and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

There were few dry eyes on the sidewalk when Ed’s widow, Ginny, unveiled a plaque featuring his picture and describing his service to the credit union and the community. Also on hand were Ed and Ginny’s three sons, John, Paul and Neil, and their families.
