Senator James E. Timilty (D-Walpole) recently received the 2008 Legislator of the Year Award from the Norfolk County Commissioners Francis W. O’Brien of Dedham, Peter H. Collins of Milton and John M. Gillis of Quincy at the Norfolk County Legislative Breakfast.
The Legislator of the Year Award is given to those members of the General Court who have substantially assisted in the Commissioners’ policy agenda and priorities. Timilty has worked closely with county officials to introduce and support legislation to advance the organization’s legislative goals.
“Senator Timilty has many times gone beyond the call of duty.” Stated Norfolk County Commissioner Francis O’Brien. “He has been a tireless worker for all of his constituents in his district and for the citizens of the Commonwealth and especially Norfolk County. He serves with dignity and respect, and receiving the Legislator of the Year from Norfolk County Commissioners is an honor he justly deserves.” added O’Brien.
Forbes magazine recently ranked Norfolk County 20th on its list of “America’s Best Places to Raise a Family.” Forbes considered such factors as cost of living, graduation rate, crime rate and commute time.
“I am honored that the County Commissioners have named me Legislator of the Year, Timilty said. “I have truly enjoyed a great relationship with their membership as we have worked to preserve the priorities of county government in Norfolk County and throughout the Commonwealth.”
