My Backyard

I fully support the re-election of Democratic Senator Jim Timilty. I was fortunate enough to have met Senator Timilty approximately 4-5 years ago and I can tell you that he is one terrific man. He truly cares about his people. I have been employed as a Trooper with the Massachusetts State Police for twenty years. I have spent time at our State House and have had many conversations with different elected officials, Senator Timilty pours his ‘heart and soul’ into his work with an underlying cause ‘for the people’.

Senator Timilty has been endorsed by my union ‘SPAM’ (State Police Association of Massachusetts). Our membership is over 2,000 strong. Senator Timilty is one who understands and fully supports all of our ‘Public Safety’ issues. Working the highways of the Commonwealth for the last twenty years, I have had numerous encounters and close calls while mostly working in the breakdown lane. I had approached Senator Timilty with a concern I had with regards to a safety issue on the highway. It is a law known as ‘The Move-over Act’. He spent time listening to my stories and concerns. I had approached another ‘high ranking’ elected official prior to meeting Senator Timilty with the same concerns and had NO results. Senator Timilty worked vigorously on this issue and hopefully, we will have a new law on the books soon. The underlying theme for this new law is very simple, ‘Public Safety’.

When I come in contact with other public safety officials I am sure to tell them about the ‘Move-over Act’ and further advise them that if they ever run into Senator Timilty, to be sure to thank him for all his efforts. If it was not for the Senator, we would not be where we are with this law.

Senator Timilty is a great family man who strives for a better existence for all people, not just the people of his District. We all benefit for the better with Senator Timilty on our side.

Do I benefit anything from writing this letter? No I do not. I only want to spread my knowledge of him to as many people as I can. All one has to do is meet him, they will like him. One would not be able to walk away from this man and not be left with anything less than positive feelings about him. He is a man of great character.
