GRACE BAPTIST CHRISTIAN ACADEMY BOYS’ BASKETBALL TEAM

TO COMPETE IN FLORIDA TOURNAMENT

ATTLEBORO – The boys’ basketball team of Grace Baptist Christian Academy has been entered in the Cougar High School Basketball Tournament which will be held Jan. 22, 23 and 24 on the campus of Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, Fla.

According to Pastor Jeffrey Nichols (who coaches the boys’ basketball team and also serves as the school’s director of athletics), GBCA is one of eight scholastic squads entered in the tournament. Also competing will be Hanalani Christian School (Hanalani, Hawaii), Faith Baptist Christian School (Brandon, Fla.), Fountain Inn Christian School (Fountain Inn, S.C.), Indian Rock Christian School (Indians Rocks, Fla.), West Hernando Christian School (Spring Hill, Fla.), Victory Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Grace Christian Academy (Orlando, Fla.).

“Our kids are really excited about this trip and looking forward to it,” Nichols said. “It’s a good opportunity to visit a college campus for a few days and to compete against some big schools from other parts of the country.”

All eight teams will play one game daily during the tournament, which will be capped by a championship contest on the final day. Teams losing games during the first two days will be assigned to the tourney’s consolation bracket.

This season’s GBCA roster includes co-captains Tim Yoakum and Josh Hulme, Brian Arnold, Isaiah Childs, Adam Bailey, Alex Reichert, Matt Dillon, Evan Schoepfer, Zarek Goyette, Tyler McGee, Zachary Yoakum and Chris Redlund.

GBCA will open tourney play Jan. 22 against Hanalani.

“It should be an interesting game,” Nichols said. “It will definitely be a challenge for us.”
