SWANSEA, Mass. (January 28, 2009) – Waring-Sullivan Homes of Memorial Tribute, Sugarman Sinai Memorial Chapel, Pontarelli-Marino Funeral Home, Romano Funeral Homes and Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home will host the 14th annual “Wise Management of Grief” seminar from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wed., Feb. 4 at Venus de Milo restaurant, 75 GAR Hwy, Rte. 6 in Swansea. The seminar is free and open to public but registration is required. Call 508-676-1933 to register or for more information.
The esteemed presenter of this year’s seminar is Massachusetts native Charles Nechtem, Ph.D., founder of Charles Nechtem Associates. One of the largest Employee Assistance Program (EAP) providers in the U.S., Charles Nechtem Associates helps four million employees and their family members better balance their work and personal lives. In the one-day “Wise Management of Grief” seminar, Nechtem will share his expertise and essential self-help tips with professional and lay caregivers in the Boston area.
“With an aging population in the U.S., and with the vast Baby Boom generation nearing retirement age, the role of the caregiver has become increasingly important,” Nechtem said. “Few caregivers, professional or otherwise, have a support system in place which addresses their physical and psychological needs. It is essential that caregivers recognize their vulnerability and take measures to maintain their own mental and physical health,” he said.
Designed especially for professional caregivers such as nurses, social workers, hospice workers, volunteers, counselors, educators, clergy, funeral directors and chaplains, the seminar will benefit any caregiver of the bereaved.
“As leaders in funeral service, Dignity Memorial providers understand the grief process and the toll it can take on those who provide care for others,” said Sumner James “Jim” Waring Jr., chairman of the Waring-Sullivan Homes of Memorial Tribute. “Offering this educational seminar to our community’s caregivers is one way we can show them our appreciation while providing support for their efforts,” Waring said.
