Centenary United Methodist Church

February 26th, 2009 · No Comments

The idea for a Praise Band started last summer as a way to add a contemporary feel to parts of the worship experience at Centenary United Methodist Church, corner of North Main and Sanford Streets, Attleboro. The band debuted at the “Amazing Grace in the Park” service at Capron Park in August of 2008. Since then, it has been a regular part of Centenary’s Sunday morning worship every third Sunday of the month. As the group learns new material, the schedule will be expanded.

A mix of music taken from a large number of Christian recording artists, and from the church hymnal, is offered. An upbeat style is used with easy to learn rhythms. Words to all the songs are projected on a large screen so that everyone quickly can join in.

Current members are, from left to right, Rev. Nancy Collins (vocals and percussion), Paulette Mahoney (vocals), Andy Michaud (guitar and bass), Mark Umberger (vocals), Dave Thibault (vocals), Dave Rolince (guitar and vocals), Karna Antonitis (vocals), John Cote (vocals), Doreen Rolince (vocals), and Dennis Avey (keyboard – not in picture).

Join in at Centenary Church, 9:45am, on the third Sunday of each month, for this special, up-lifting time of music and praise.
