A new temporary Wall Street entrance to the City MBTA parking lot is set to officially open on April 6, 2009.
Commuters that now use the existing South Main Street entrance will have the choice of using an alternate second entrance located on Wall Street which will have three lanes, one lane for entering the MBTA lot and two lanes for exiting the lot.
The entrance has been fitted out with signage, line painting and lighting for easy way finding to allow for minimal confusion.
The new entrance will allow commuters easy access to and from County Street and South Main Street. There is also a pedestrian walkway that is accessible from Wall Street and runs along Attleboro Old Barn that is protected from vehicular traffic with concrete Jersey Barriers.
Once commuters are comfortable and familiar with the new entrance, the existing entrance on South Main Street will be upgraded to provide right turn in and right turn out only, as this new configuration will be safer for vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
On behalf of the MBTA, GATRA and the ARA, please enjoy a safer, quicker way of getting in and out of the Commuter parking lot and don’t forget to watch out for pedestrians.
