Over the Independence Day holiday weekend, Saturday & Sunday, July 4-5, stay close to home to celebrate America’s birthday party in Southern New England’s Blackstone River Valley!

America’s favorite pastime
Americana and our favorite sport of baseball is always the star of the show at McCoy Stadium, Pawtucket, RI, home of the Pawtucket Red Sox, the AAA team to the Boston Rd Sox.
Thursday and Friday nights, July 2-3, following the Paw Sox playing Scranton-Wilkes Barre, see a colorful Post Game Fireworks show.
The Paw Sox and McCoy Stadium are renowned for their family friendly atmosphere where people can experience baseball in an intimate setting, along with seeing tomorrow’s stars in action. In addition, players from the Boston Red Sox usually show up to play in games before returning to the big leagues.

Village parade
Small town America is reflected in the Cumberland, RI village of Arnold Mills, known for its early industrialized past and its close knit neighborhood of today.
The village has their annual Arnold Mills July 4th Celebration on Saturday, July 4, featuring daylong festivities to honor America. All activities happen along Nate Whipple Highway (Route 120)
Events kickoff at 9 am with a Road Race. The Independence Day Parade starts at 11 am featuring Shriner’s marchers. At 1 pm enjoy a community concert at the village common.

For those looking for an unusual way to celebrate patriotism, don’t miss the annual Ancient & Horribles Parade, held on Saturday afternoon, July 4, at 4pm, marching along Putnam Pike (US Route 44) in Chepachet village, Glocester, RI.
This nationally recognized offbeat gathering lampoons local and national news events, celebrities and other public figures and topics. Participants and bands are dressed in their improvised costumes and floats traveling the parade route are creatively designed to reflect the excitement of the marchers.
