Blais Insurance Agency of Lincoln recently donated a portable automated external defibrillator (AED) to treat life threatening cardiac arrhythmias. The agency made the donation in support of the Michael Monteleone foundation, which was created in memory of the Lincoln High School freshman who collapsed and died following a practice with his school baseball team. Medical responders had indicated that if a defibrillator had been nearby his life might have been saved. Located at the third base utility room at the Randy Hein Field in Lincoln, the new AED device is accessible to the public during games and practices. The Lincoln Little League has AED devices at 6 of its 9 ball fields. According to Ned Blais of Blais Insurance, “Our goal is to have AED’s at every ball field in Lincoln, and we hope other companies and organizations will join our effort.”
