BOSTON, MA – State Senators Scott Brown and James Timilty have announced that the Registry of Motor Vehicles will share resources with the City of Attleboro in opening a new express branch next to City Hall. The move to rent-free space exemplifies the administration’s commitment to cost-savings – an important goal of transportation reform – and will help the city’s effort to revitalize downtown business.
“An express branch is better than a permanent closing,” stated Senator Brown. “Senator Timilty and I did all we could to prevent the closing. The alternative solution is an absolute necessity for the Attleboro community and surrounding areas.”
“I was glad to see that the Registrar accepted our proposal of an express branch in downtown Attleboro” said Senator Timilty. “Senator Brown and I worked hard with the City to come up with this compromise to what was an unacceptable situation for the area’s residents.”
The new Attleboro branch will occupy 1,000 square feet in the former post office adjacent to City Hall and could open within 30 to 60 days.
In an effort to address severe budget constraints and reduce private leasing costs, the RMV targeted nearly a dozen branches for closure. To minimize the impact on customer traffic, the agency is working with sister transportation agencies, municipalities and local delegations to site new branches in rent-free public spaces.
To improve customer service, the RMV has expanded online services over the past two years, including license, registration and title inquiries. To take advantage of RMV’s online services visit: www.mass.gov/rmv.

Right. We all know it was Bill Bowles who got it done. Try not to fall off the band wagon, along with Betty, Richard and Jay.
