ATTLEBORO LEGISLATORS ANNOUNCE FUNDING FOR HOUSING AUTHORITY

December 19th, 2009 · No Comments

State Senators Scott Brown and James Timilty and State Representatives Elizabeth Poirier and Bill Bowles are pleased to announce that the Attleboro Housing Authority has been awarded a technical assistance and emergency capital improvement bond by the state’s Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).

The Authority will receive $14,600 to supplement its own capital reserves to replace hot water heaters at the Authority’s 667- 4, Brookside Apartments development.

Funding from the Housing Bond Bill signed into law in 2008 is allocated to local housing authorities according to a formula based on the statewide Capital Planning System (CPS), which uses a uniform methodology for building condition assessment, locally determined priorities, and good property management practices.

This emergency project, which needed to be undertaken prior to the completion of the Attleboro Housing Authority’s capital plan, will come as an advance against that allocation. The DHCD’s overall CPS assessment for the Attleboro Housing Authority will be complete later this year.
