GBCA Boys’ Hoop Squad Wins Twice in Three Outings
ATTLEBORO – The boys’ basketball team ofc of Attleboro posted two victories in three starts recently to improve its season record to 10-2.

After disposing of Massachusetts Association of Christian Schools rival Pepperell Christian Academy (46-21) and non-league opponent Steadfast Christian Academy of Groton, Conn. (45-43), the Centurions saw their modest three-game winning streak snapped during a 54-51 non-league loss at New England Christian Academy of Swansea. GBCA is now 5-1 against MACS opponents this season.
Against Pepperell, the Centurions zoomed to a 28-10 lead by halftime and were never seriously threatened in the second half. Adam Bailey, Alex Reichert and Mathias McGonigle all scored 10 points for the winners.
GBCA forged a seven-point halftime bulge opposite Steadfast, but needed to rally late to nip the Eagles. Reichert paced a balanced Centurion attack with 12 points, while Bailey poured in 11 points and McGonigle and Matt Dillon both finished with 10 points.
GBCA’s second-half comeback from a five-point deficit at intermission came up short against NECA, whose Evan Browner amassed a game-high 21 points. Reichert swished 17 points for the Centurions, McGonigle ended with 13 points, Bailey totaled 11 points and Dillon chipped in with 8 points.
GBCA’s junior varsity squad erased an 11-point halftime disadvantage, but still fell to Steadfast, 40-39, in its lone outing of the week. Bennett Evans and Connor McLernon sparked the Centurions with 11 points apiece.

Plagued by foul troubles and ice perimeter shooting, GBCA’s girls’ basketball squad suffered a 24-21 non-league loss at NECA. The Centurions led by a 14-10 margin at the break, but the host Lions roared back for a 14-7 advantage in the final period to pull out the win.
Emily Wiegand topped GBCA with 9 points and Krissy Kirby finished with 8 points. The Centurions are now 4-5 this winter.
