Many equate the political differences between Taub and incumbent, David Cicilline, as moral in nature.?? One seeks smaller, less costly Government where individual authority and responsibility can increase.?? The other prefers bigger Government that consumes all capital in the economy for redistribution to the people as it sees fit.?? “The Election will be the real test of the attitude of the Citizens.”?? Taub acknowledged.?? “This weekend there’s a unique opportunity for a warm-up match, though.”
Here in Pawtucket, this weekend, the annual Dragon Boat Races and Taiwanese Cultural Festival will be held on the banks of the Seekonk River.?? One of the signature events of the annual field day by the water is the Dumpling Eating Contest.?? In a formal statement today Russell Taub threw down the gauntlet, challenging Mr. Cicilline to go mano a mano over Dim Sum!?? “David and I should square off over some steaming Cantonese cuisine and go head-to-head right down to the last Gao Zi (???; ??????).”?? Whoever eats the most gets bragging rights.??
Whatever press coverage the match up generates will be all to the good of the Festival and the City of Pawtucket, its host.
As of this writing, the Cicilline camp is hesitating with their response to Russell Taub’s dare.?? District 1 Voters, not only in Pawtucket but across the Blackstone Valley, wait in eager anticipation for the two politicians to raise to the occasion and give their campaigns a distinctive Pinyin flavor.
