“VOLUME ONE”

ALLISON to perform at the Weaver Library

??F WEAVER edited

On Monday, May 8, 2017 at 7:00pm, the Weaver Library will host ALLISON, a unique duo who will perform music from their debut CD, ???Volume One,??? featuring songs of Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens, Graham Nash, and Elizabethan composers.

ALLISON is the creation of mezzo-soprano Allison Messier and harpsichordist Paul Cienniwa. When asked to describe ???ALLISON,??? ??Cienniwa explains, ???Unlike a classical ensemble where we always feel the need to come up with new repertoire, ALLISON allows us to function like a band, performing sets of songs that people will want to hear time and time again.

Of course, the use of harpsichord in these songs adds a quality that fits really well with the music.??? Messier adds, ???In the classical world, it???s not typical to perform favorites more than once in a season, but with ALLISON we can do this. ALLISON is very freeing for us, and we think that our audiences will love it too!???

A graduate of New England Conservatory, Ms. Messier has performed in numerous operas and is an active oratorio soloist throughout New England.?? Awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Yale University, Mr. Cienniwa also has an active career as a soloist.?? Additionally, he is Chorus Master of the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, teaches at the Music School of the RI Philharmonic, and serves as Music Director of First Church in Boston.

This concert is free and open to all. Weaver Library is located at 41 Grove Ave., East Providence, RI 02914. ??Questions??? Call 434-2453.
