Pawtucket???s 20/20 Co-Chairs Thank Community for their Commitment to Moving the City Forward

PAWTUCKET ???Pawtucket???s 20/20 Co-Chairs Sandra Cano and Mark House extend their appreciation for the outpouring of support both at the business outreach event earlier this month and through subsequent outreach.

???It is energizing to hear that the community is excited about the projects underway and the potential they hold for the future of our city,??? said Councilor Sandra Cano. ???The City needs to draw further development and investment to provide residents and businesses with the quality of life services and financial relief they are seeking. Exciting recent projects like Pet Food Experts and Isle Brewers Guild are adding to Pawtucket???s strong foundations and setting the stage for our truly bright future. We will continue to spread the word through events, social media, and our local associations.???

???The City, businesses, and residents have put their efforts, passion and capital into turning Pawtucket around without much fanfare,??? said Mark House. ???With so many major projects on the horizon, we must join together to keep the positive momentum going. This effort has already led to the PawSox forming a development group to draw further interest and investment to the city. The dominoes are set up here in Pawtucket, and we just need that push that will make our potential a reality.???

Pawtucket???s 20/20 Downtown Development Vision was launched by the Grebien Administration earlier this month. The vision is focused on current development underway and future plans for the riverfront and downtown areas, including the commuter rail station and transit hub, bikeway, and national park. Pawtucket???s 20/20 has committed to focusing their initial efforts over the next several weeks on the potential of a downtown stadium and the catalytic force for development in downtown. Pawtucket???s 20/20 will then expand their advocacy beyond this initial focus to build upon all projects in the Growth Center District to keep the downtown vision plan moving forward.

Sandra Cano is a Pawtucket City Councilor At-Large and Assistant Vice President of Business and Community Development at Navigant Credit Union. She is also on the board of directors of the YWCA of Rhode Island, Latino Public Radio, ECAS Theater, RI Latino Arts and Serve Rhode Island.

Mark House is the Vice President and Senior Scientist at Environmental Strategies and Management. He sits on the Pawtucket Foundation Board, as well as the Pawtucket YMCA Board of Directors. He is the owner of the renovated mill complex at 65 Blackstone Avenue in Pawtucket.??

The Co-Chairs thanked local business leaders and property owners for their investments in Pawtucket. ???We???re encouraged by all that???s been achieved in recent years and truly excited for the future,??? said Cano and House. ???The PawSox announcement last week that they have created a development entity to further invest in our city is positive proof that we are headed in the right direction and poised for game changing growth. We thank the team for their commitment. Pawtucket needs to be our own best cheerleader and advocate for the state to invest in our city as they have for so long in Providence.???
