The Rhode Island Film & TV Office is pleased to announce that production on an upcoming HISTORY documentary has commenced and will continue into June. Filming will occur throughout the Ocean State.  The title of the project, to be announced at a later date, is slated to air later this year on HISTORY.

HISTORY®, now reaching more than 96 million homes, is the leading destination for award-winning series and specials that connect viewers with history in an informative, immersive and entertaining manner across all platforms. The network’s all-original programming slate features a roster of signature series including “Pawn Stars,” “American Pickers,” “The Curse of Oak Island,” “Alone” as well as the hit drama series “Vikings.”

“Rhode Island’s vibrant filmmaking community is an important contributor to our state’s economy, and this new and important production keeps the positive momentum moving forward,” Governor Gina M. Raimondo said.  ”I congratulate the Rhode Island Film & TV Office for their work and thank HISTORY for choosing Rhode Island.”

Steven Feinberg, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Film & TV Office, stated, “We are excited to be collaborating with HISTORY on this ambitious project.  It is yet another opportunity for our local talent and dedicated technicians to gain experience while working and living in our beautiful Ocean State.”

House Speaker Nicholas A. Mattiello stated, “The House of Representatives has always been very supportive of the filmmaking industry because we truly recognize the benefits to our state’s economy.  Our tax credit program is extremely competitive with neighboring states, and we have great workers, scenic and historic settings, and some of the nation’s finest colleges and cultural attractions, which all contribute to our thriving film industry.”

Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio said, “Filmmakers have taken notice that our beautiful state is an exceptional place to live and work. Rhode Island is both diverse and compact, which lends itself wonderfully to the demands of the film industry. With a talented workforce in the industry, a thriving arts scene, and exceptional quality of life, Rhode Island is the perfect place to make movies.”
