TOM RUSH AT MASSASOIT

Massasoit Day to Feature Concert by Shirley Alston Reeves and Tom Rush

All-day event will culminate in performance by two legendary recording artists

On Saturday, June 3, Massasoit Community College will host Massasoit Day, the final event in its year-long celebration of the institution???s 50 years.

Following the day???s free events on the Brockton Campus, which will include food, games, a live concert stage, and arts and crafts for kids, Massasoit will host Shirley Alston Reeves, former lead singer of The Shirelles, and folk singer Tom Rush for an intimate show in the Buckley Performing Arts Center.

Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, The Shirelles had six top ten singles in the early 1960s with Shirley on lead vocals, including ???Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,??? ???Mama Said,??? and ???Baby, It???s You.??? In 1975, Shirley launched a solo career, and continues to tour with her band.

Folk rock singer Tom Rush has had a long career as a singer songwriter, and has performed at Massasoit several times over the years. His early recordings included versions of songs by Jackson Browne, James Taylor, and Joni Mitchell.

Tom continues to tour regularly with special guests.

Tickets are $35 for general admission tickets and $50 for VIP reserved seating, including a meet and greet with the artists after the show.

Doors open at 6:30 and will accompany an art exhibit for artist Jo Ann Rothschild.

The show begins at 7:30.
