Miss GEICO Offshore Racing to Make a First Time Appearance??in the Fall River Grand Prix ??
FALL RIVER, MA (August 2017) ??? The Miss GEICO Powerboat Racing Teamopa will compete in the Fall River Grand Prix on Aug. 25-27. ??The Miss GEICO team has won eight world championship titles and is anticipating a great race for this third annual event in Fall River, MA.??
The racing weekend includes a meet-and-greet on Friday evening, race boat testing on Saturday afternoon, a boat parade on Saturday evening, and competitive races on Sunday along the Taunton River in Fall River, MA.?? Ten separate classes of racing will participate in three races on Sunday with more than 50 teams competing.?? The 2017 event will be a first time appearance for Miss GEICO in the New England area.?? The Alex and Ani racing team will compete against Miss GEICO in the Extreme Class during the last race of the day on Sunday.?? During the duo???s most recent matchup, Miss GEICO won bragging rights as the top place finisher for the 2017 Sarasota Grand Prix.??
The world champion Miss GEICO Offshore Racing Team is proud to announce the latest addition to its racing fleet. ??For the Fall River Grand Prix, the Miss GEICO race boat will be a 47-foot Victory catamaran powered by two 1350 Mercury race engines. ??These engines produce more than 2700 hp and will reach speeds approaching 180 mph.??
World-renowned racer Johnny Tomlinson will pilot the watercraft as the throttleman. Fellow world champion Jay Muller will take the wheel as the team???s driver.?? Given their list of racing accomplishments, the Miss GEICO team is hopeful to win a ninth world title in 2017.
Fall River is the midpoint of the racing season for Miss GEICO program.?? The team participates in the Offshore Powerboat Association (OPA) and Super Boat International (SBI) racing series. ??This will be the first time that Miss GEICO will compete in the state of Massachusetts and is looking forward to the racing action on Lake Taunton.?? Following the race in Fall River, the team will compete on Sept. 22-24 at Lake Hopatcong, NJ; Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at the 9th Annual SBI National Championships in Clearwater, FL; Nov. 6-12 at the 37th Annual SBI World Championships in Key West, FL; and Nov. 17-19 at the Englewood Beach Waterfest OPA World Championships in Englewood, FL.
