The United Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Dr. Bruce Auerbach, CEO of Sturdy Memorial Hospital will be our guest speaker at our 101st Annual Meeting at Plainridge Park Casino. ??

Bruce Auerbach, M.D., F.A.C.E.P., is currently the President and CEO at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Massachusetts after serving as the hospital???s Vice President and Chief of Emergency and Ambulatory Services and its Chief Medical Officer.

Trained in emergency medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), Dr. Auerbach is a past president of the Massachusetts Chapter of ACEP from whom he has received numerous honors and past president of the Massachusetts Medical Society. Dr. Auerbach has served as Chair of the American College of Emergency Physicians??? Federal Government Affairs Committee and its Quality and Performance Committee, as the ACEP representative to the Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement Foundation Board and was the College???s 2009 Recipient of the Mills Award for Outstanding Contributions to Emergency Medicine.?? He is currently a member of Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association???s (MHA) Board of Trustees and serves on its Executive Committee as the Association Treasurer and the Massachusetts Council of Community Hospital???s Board where he serves as its Secretary-Treasurer.?? In addition, he has served in multiple roles addressing health policy and public health issues at the Regional and State level related to emergency and disaster preparedness, as well as issues related to health reform, performance metrics, quality and safety. ??

Dr. Auerbach is Chair of the Board of the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Program, an organization dedicated to reducing disparities in health and healthcare by developing ???leaders in service??? – individuals who are dedicated and skilled in helping underserved communities.

Dr. Auerbach received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Temple University in Philadelphia. He completed his internship and residency at Los Angeles County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California where he was a Chief Resident.

In addition to his activities in hospital and physician leadership and medicine, he has an appointment in the Division of Emergency Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

A native of Philadelphia, Dr. Auerbach is married to Robin Richman, M.D., a 1976 graduate of the Temple University School of Medicine, who has recently retired after a career initially as a private practice Obstetrician-Gynecologist and subsequently in numerous executive-level administrative positions with health plans, physician groups and the MHA.?? She currently serves as a physician member of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine.
