RI Society of CPA’s Announces Melissa Travis Named New President of RISCPA

The RI Society of CPAs is pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa D. Travis to become the next President of the RI Society of CPAs. Ms. Travis was most recently Director of Commercial Sales for HealthSource RI for Employers, which she joined in 2013. She has extensive experience in business and government in Rhode Island, as well as regionally and globally, with a career that has ranged from business development and sales, small business services, government healthcare and state economic development, as well as international trade and customs support. She was part of the implementation and launch of the small business program at HealthSource RI for Employers, recognized as the best performing per capita in the United States.

 

“We are thrilled to have a professional with the extensive experience of Melissa Travis become our Society’s new President,” says John Ayers, Vice Chair of the RISCPA Board of Directors who led the Society’s Executive Search Committee. “Her considerable background in business development, finance and government advocacy, as well as having strong organizational management and leadership skills will make her a great President for our Society.”

 

Ms. Travis received the Small Business Administration District Director Award in 2016, and prior to that had an award-winning career in sales with Tandberg/CISCO and Teknor Apex in Pawtucket, RI. She was the first woman named to the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association Board of Directors and works closely with industry groups across Rhode Island.

 

The RI Society of CPAs is an educational, advocacy and industry networking membership association serving CPAs and professionals in financial advising, banking, insurance and related businesses in RI and southeastern New England.
