TOP TWENTY-FIVE COMPETITIVE HIGH SCHOOLS IN UNITED STATES

SEVEN OUT OF TWENTY-FIVE ARE IN MASSACHUSETTS

Phillips Academy Andover, Andover, Massachusetts #1 In Nation

C TOP TEN andover

As one of the oldest academies in the US, founded in 1778 during the Revolutionary War, Phillips Academy Andover commonly called Andover) has grown and transformed but maintained its level of excellence and prestige. At its founding, Andover consisted of an all-male, all-white student body – a far cry from the scene today where its 1,150 students represent 49 different countries and women outnumber men. Andover is both a boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12, with approximately 75% boarding and 25% day. Along with over 300 course offerings, Andover students engage in more than 125 clubs and activities ranging from rock climbing to robotics.

Massachusetts has more than just great sports teams and highly-ranked universities. It’s also home to seven of the top 25 most sought-after high schools in the nation, according to Test Innovators’ list of most competitive high schools in 2018.

To compile this list, leading online test prep company out of Seattle, Test Innovators, analyzed data from over 15,000 students who used their technology to prepare for admissions exams, such as the SSAT and ISEE. They looked at where students plan to apply for the 2019/20 school year.

Here are the Massachusetts schools that made the list:

  • #1 –    Phillips Academy Andover (Andover, MA)
  • #6 –    Boston Latin School (Boston, MA)
  • #7 –    Milton Academy (Milton, MA)
  • #8 –    Deerfield Academy (Deerfield, MA)
