BROWN HOSTS GRADUATES

Grace Baptist Christian Academy Graduates Visit Senator Brown During ‘Senior Trip’

ATTLEBORO – Nine members of the Class of 2010 of Grace Baptist Christian Academy recently spent a week on the road prior to their graduation visiting three states as part of their “Senior Trip,” an annual tradition at the Attleboro private school. According to Pastor Jeffrey Bailey, GBCA’s principal, this year’s graduates traveled by van to Ohio and Georgia before stopping in Washington, D.C., on their way home. While in the nation’s capital, the GBCA contingent was hosted by Senator Scott Brown (R-Mass.), at his office in the Capitol Building. “Our students were graciously hosted by Senator Brown and his staff and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of watching the United States Senate in session,” said Pastor Bailey, who accompanied the students on their long journey. “It was truly a memorable trip.” Participating in this year’s “Senior Trip” were Evan Schoepfer, Alex Reichert, Brendan Argueta, Adam Bailey, Cheryl Barrett, Sarah Merrett, Matthew Dillon, Jessica Patterson and Mayika Thompson. Andrea Bailey, Pastor Bailey’s daughter and a 2007 GBCA graduate, also attended. According to Pastor Bailey, GBCA graduates-to-be annually organize and self-finance a “Senior Trip” to various locations, usually in the Midwest, South and Atlantic Coast regions. The trip is held after seniors have completed their academic requirements at the school, but prior to its official graduation ceremony. “It’s a way to reward our seniors for their hard work during the past four years and to let them enjoy the fruits of their labors,” Pastor Bailey said. “While we do seek out and enjoy recreational opportunities on these trips, we also consider them to be educational and enriching for our students.” Grace Baptist Christian Academy is a coeducational school servicing students from Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The school boasts a rigorous classical Christian education; a low teacher-to-student ratio; a safe, nurturing and disciplined learning environment; reasonable tuition rates; and several extracurricular and interscholastic athletic programs.
