COMMUNITY VNA ATTLEBORO

Hospice Hosts Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving
Celebrating the Lives and Memory of Our Loved Ones

Attleboro, MA – Community VNA Hospice and Palliative Care held the annual Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving, Sunday, November 3, at the Crossroads International Church, 1052 Newport Avenue, in South Attleboro.

The service honored the memory of patients who passed away while on hospice and palliative care services. Family members and friends of those patients were invited to attend along with members of the community at large.

The service included music, candle-lighting, readings, tributes, and other reflections. Names of those who died between September 1, 2018 and August 31, 2019 were read aloud.

“The Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance provides a place for the family and friends of our patients as well as our hospice staff and volunteers to gather and remember those we have lost. For us, this is an important part of providing emotional and spiritual support for our patients and their loved ones,” said Glenn Rounseville, Spiritual and Bereavement Care Coordinator for Community VNA Hospice and Palliative Care.

For patients facing a life-limiting illness, as well as for family members, friends and loved ones who experience loss, hospice is instrumental in providing compassionate care and supportive services for patients and their families. Hospice provides dignity, comfort, and respect during a difficult time.

“Our annual service offers an opportunity to remember, to reflect, and to give thanks for our lives having been touched by those we have loved and lost. We honor their memory and their spirit. This event is also an opportunity to highlight hospice and palliative care in our community, particularly because it takes place during the month of November, recognized as National Hospice and Palliative Care Month,” Rounseville said.
