Donna M. Gouveia, CPA is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Visiting Nurse Service of Greater Rhode Island, a community based not-for-profit home health and hospice agency located in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
Gouveia is an accomplished executive with more than twenty-five years of home health and hospice experience. Before appointed President and CEO by the Board of Directors on January 1, 2010, Gouveia served as the organization Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. During her tenure, she was instrumental in establishing a technology strategy, including the implementation of an electronic health record system, focused on fully automating the clinical and financial operations of the organization.
Prior to joining the VNSGRI, Gouveia served as Chief Financial Officer at VNS Home Health Services, Chief of Budget at the Rhode Island Department of Health, and Director of Finance and Data Processing at the VNA of Rhode Island.
Gouveia is actively involved with a number of trade organizations, including the National Association of Home Care and Hospice, Home Health Financial Managers Association, and the Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants. She has served widely as an instructor at professional conferences, hosting presentations targeting leadership of home health and hospice organizations.
Gouveia also maintains involvement in a myriad of community activities. She is currently the Board Treasurer of the St. Elizabeth Community and serves on the boards of the Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum and NRI Community Services. She has previously served on the boards of Big Sisters of Rhode Island, Angel Planes, and Travelers Aide.
Gouveia is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She became a Certified Public Accountant in 1995.
