Ann Kaczowka (Seekonk) takes part in the student toy brigade formed to transfer toys from one building to another.

Bishop Feehan High School held their 16^th annual Santa Shop yesterday, December 13, where 4200 toys, bikes and gifts were offered to families who were registered with the local St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Students, faculty and staff began collecting gifts in November.

All gifts were transferred via Feehan’s traditional toy brigade to the cafeteria where they were sorted and displayed by age group.  Families were then able to choose up to six toys or gifts for each of their children.  Meanwhile, children that attended were looked after by student volunteers who brought them to visit with Santa, have their face painted, and gave them each a new pair of pajamas, hat and gloves.

“Santa Shop is a huge undertaking,” commented Principal Bill Runey, “Santa is a sign of hope and wonder. I always tell our young people that they have a chance to perpetuate the spirit of Santa Claus for over 225 families. I also tell the Freshmen , ‘you will not believe your eyes’.  It is truly a team effort as every staff member and family contribute something – toys, warm pajamas, volunteer their time, or provide food for volunteers.”
