Joe Howard’s daughters, Kara and Elizabeth accept his Hall of Fame award on behalf of their father.
Joe Howard was inducted into the Catholic Memorial Athletic Hall of Fame this November, for varsity football. Joe graduated from Catholic Memorial as valedictorian in 1975.
While at Catholic Memorial, Joe was president of the National Honors Society, he was a member of the 1972-73 Catholic Conference Champion Superbowl Teams, he was on the 1974 Championship Varsity Track Team and the 1974 State Champion in the High Jump.
Joe was a man who always strived for excellence in whatever he did. Joe left this world too early when he passed away in April, at age 53, from a cancerous brain tumor. He left many amazing legacies, but his greatest achievements were his marriage to his wife Jean and his two amazing daughters Kara and Elizabeth.
As a father, Joe taught his daughters to strive for that same excellence in life. Even at a young age you can see evidence of Joe’s mentoring, as both girls are scholar athletes at Bishop Feehan High School.
Joe was the type of person that had a way of touching your heart, even if you only had the opportunity to know him for a short while. Everything Joe did in life showed great confidence, determination, poise, and class.
