Whitney Smith

Quintal Law Offices is pleased to announce a recent addition to her office staff, Paralegal Whitney Smith, a former assistant of the Attorney General’s Office.  

Smith was a former assistant for the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office concentrating on Superior Court cases. Her primary focus was criminal prosecution, trial preparation: she was responsible for handling cases from the pretrial stage through disposition. Her vast experience includes pretrial motion sessions, discovery and trial preparation for both felonies and misdemeanors including all aspects of asset forfeiture.  

Smith worked under the direction of numerous state assistant prosecutors, local and federal law enforcement agencies. Smith participating in arraignments, bail hearings, probation surrender hearings, dangerousness hearings, indictments, and mental health commitments. Smith negotiated case dispositions, including narcotics, organized crime, firearm offenses, domestic violence, and sexual assault.

She joins Quintal Law Offices with a new focus on the defense side of criminal law and procedure and family law. She will focus on office management practices, trial preparation, and assistance with docket and case management practices.

Smith is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, with a double major Bachelor of Arts degree. Whitney was inducted into the National Women’s Studies Honor Society for academic credentials. After graduating college, Smith’s focus was on litigation and court prosecutions.

Smith’s future plans include law school and litigation practice. Her broad range of experience from the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office will be a great asset to the Quintal Law Offices.
