Students practicing their songs with voice coach
Jerilyn Turner
Saint Mary-Sacred Heart School’s Actors’ Workshop will be putting on two
performances of Aladdin, Jr. Preparations for the performance began in
October when Mrs. Susan O’Korn, the third grade teacher, and Kerri Murphy,
third grade aide, invited interested students from grades 4-8 to join the
Drama Club.
The group of students met every Wednesday after school to learn and practice various acting techniques. Once the play was chosen in
December, the students tried out for the various roles and have been
practicing very hard for the performance.
The play will be put on by the student actors in the Sacred Heart Church Hall at 58 Church Street in North Attleboro on Friday, May 14th and Saturday, May 15th. The musical is open to the public. Tickets are available for purchase at the door – $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children under the age of 12.
During the final week of preparation, the group of actors was very excited
to have voice coach Jerilyn Turner from White’s Music assist in polishing
the musical numbers. She helped train the students in warming up their
voices, working on cues, adjusting to the various tempo changes, and working on emotional presentation during their singing.
