Attleboro residents Shawn Morales and Katherine Potter, North Attleboro residents Sheila Brady and Benjamin Chagnon, and Plainville resident Jessica Brooks were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Dunkin’ Donuts Franchisees of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts recently, at a reception held in honor of the 2008 Dunkin’ Donuts Franchisee Scholarship recipients at the Rhode Island State House.
This marks the thirteenth year that local Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees have funded the Dunkin’ Donuts Scholarship program, and more than $1.3 million in scholarships that have been awarded to area students to help further their education. Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts area, who excel academically, demonstrate leadership qualities, and are involved with the community, demonstrating the franchisee’s long-standing commitment to supporting youth and education-based programs in the community.
“It is an honor to award each of these wonderful students with the Dunkin’ Donuts Scholarship,” commented Steve Andrade, an Attleboro Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee. “We received more applications than ever this year, making choosing only 100 recipients all the more difficult. All applicants are deserving of this honor, but it was the strong academic records, leadership skills, and commitment to school and the community of these students that set them apart.”
