On February 12, 2008 members of Mansfield Cub Scouts Webelos I, Pack 13 participated in a seminar at Lowe's in North Attleboro on building pinewood derby cars in anticipation of their March 15, 2008 race. The Mansfield Girls Swim Team, only a second year team, took 12th Place in the 2008 MIAA State Division I Swimming and Diving Championships in the Blodgett Pool, at Harvard University in Cambridge on Sunday! Freshman swimmer Erica DeMunbrun improved her Butterfly stroke by an entire second to take first place in the Div I State Championships in the 100 Butterfly, with a time of 57.76, and she also took 3rd place in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 24.93!!! Sophomore Taylor Briseno placed in TOP 20, (Div I Girls) with a 16th place in the 100 but terfly with a time of 1:05.44, and 23rd in the 500 Freestyle race. Sophomore Matt Souza also placed in the Top 20, at the Division II Boys State Swimming and Diving Championships at Boston University on Saturday, by taking 13th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.88, and 16th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:21.19! The 200 Freestyle and 400 Freestyle Relay Teams, consisting of Senior Colleen Cuneo,Captain, Freshman Leah Drew, Taylor Briseno, and Erica DeMunbrun, BOTH took a Top 12 finish! (only the Top 12 finishers earn points) The 200 Freestyle Relay team took 12th place, taking away a time of 1:48.64, earning points for the team, and the 400 Freestyle Team took 11th place, with a time of 3:59.78, earning more points. The Mansfield team earned a total of 42 points. |

. On Friday January 25, 2008 Mansfield Cub Scout Pack 13 participated in the New England Aquarium’s Overnight Program. Scouts worked hands-on with living underwater animals and dissected squid before staying the night in the Amazing Jellies exhibit. As seen here, Aquarium staff explains the habits of the horseshoe crab. The next morning the scouts enjoyed a private showing of the aquarium before its regular hours of operation. |
