TIMING WAS PERFECT

A F BALLET EDITED

As we (not so patiently) await the sun to once again shine on southern New England, it seems the perfect time to reflect on last weekend.?? With Festival Ballet Providence’s (FBP) 38th season coming to a close, principle dancer, Mindaugas Bauzys’ final bow, record ticket sales and a stunning Swan Lake staged by a small, yet amazing company housed in little Providence, Rhode Island, it is all bittersweet.?? Yes, bittersweet is the perfect description of the weekend.

We have all heard the saying, “timing is everything” and for Mr. Bauzys, his timing was perfect.?? He certainly left the audience wanting more, as evidenced by the overly long, standing ovation.?? Tears flowed from the eyes of many of his colleagues, as they too, applauded his final performance.???? His contributions to FBP in his tenure with the company have been extraordinary.???? Mindaugas has led the company with his outstanding dance abilities, his remarkable work ethic and his significant understanding of classical ballet.?? Ballet fans and fellow company dancers will miss his position on stage with FBP for sometime.??

Join FBP in raising a glass to Mindaugas, cheers to a career well played, to the end of an era, and, yes(!) to the next chapter…and perhaps a little sun?
