RARE ESTATE SALE BRISTOL, RHODE ISLAND

Calling all Architecture Buffs to Linden Place This Week

This week Linden Place is hosting two events including a discussion and presentation by homeowner, Garry Holmstrom, on one of Bristol’s most historic homes, and an estate sale featuring original architectural pieces from the 1810 mansion.

Join us to review the history, legends, and recent discoveries behind ‘The House with the Four Eagles’ during a discussion this Thursday, September 12 at 7 PM in the Linden Place Ballroom. This Saturday, September 14th, from 9 am-2 pm, Linden Place will host a one-day sale of original architectural pieces from the mansion’s balustrade. Also for sale will be original decorative sections of wrought iron fence that graces the front lawn of Linden Place.

Bristol has long appreciated these symbols of national pride and strength, however, they have not always adorned the corner posts of the 1808 Federal Home balustrade. Are they significant? Are they carved wood, replicas, or simple ornaments? Come and find out!

The discussion and slide presentation will be led by the current owner and occupant of the home, Garry Holmstrom. We’ll discuss this significant Russell Warren home with Chippendale Balustrade that occupies a significant location and historical presence in ‘The Village’ of Bristol, RI.

The estate sale is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own your very own piece of one of the country’s most revered Federal-style mansions in existence today. Each piece was hand made in the early 19th century and can be repurposed for many decorative uses both indoors and in gardens. Both the balustrade and fence underwent extensive re-creation and restoration over the past 10 years leaving behind a limited amount of truly unique architectural gems. All proceeds go to the preservation and restoration of Linden Place and each piece is accompanied by a certificate of authentication.

Two unique events for any local historian, preservation buff or curious appreciator of historic architecture and the Linden Place Mansion. Bring a friend and/or a Bristolian who might want to take a piece of history home with them! For more information, contact the Linden Place office at 401-253-0390 or
