“LOVE MOB STORIES?”

Love mob stories? Love local mob stories even more? Broadmeadow and Doherty to speak at Weaver Library

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brendan Doherty and Joe Broadmeadow will discuss their new book, It’s Just the Way It Was: Inside the War on the New England Mob and Other Stories at the Weaver Library on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 7 pm.

Doherty and Broadmeadow take you inside the investigations, covert surveillances, and murky world of informants in the war against organized crime. From the opening moments detailing a mob enforcer’s near death in a hail of gunfire to the potentially deadly confrontation between then Detective Brendan Doherty and a notorious mob associate, Gerard Ouimette, this book puts you in the center of the action. Make no mistake, however, this was a war targeting the insidious nature of the mob and its detrimental effect on Rhode Island and throughout New England.

Brendan Doherty served for almost 30 years with the Rhode Island State Police, five years as the Superintendent. He spent much of his career as a detective in the Intelligence Unit targeting organized crime and built a reputation as a relentless but uncompromising investigator.

Retired Police Captain Joe Broadmeadow served for twenty years with the East Providence, RI Police Department. He also worked in the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force and on special assignment to the FBI drug task force. Joe has published three fictional crime thrillers and two critically acclaimed non-fiction works on organized crime.
