Pawtucket Parks & Recreation Division Announce Tennis Programs for the Season

The Pawtucket Parks & Recreation Division will be conducting various tennis programs at the Mike Kenny tennis courts in Slater Memorial Park this season.
The Parks & Recreation Division will also begin accepting registrations for the Slater Memorial Park Youth Tennis Camp on Saturday, June 10th from 11:00 am until 1 pm at the Slater Park Office with instructors on hand to address questions and/or concerns. Following this date, registrations will be accepted at the Slater Park Office, Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4:30 pm.?? The camp is tentatively scheduled to start on Monday, June 26th and continue through Thursday, August 10th at the Mike Kenny Tennis Courts located in Slater Memorial Park.
The camp includes youth instructional level lessons which take place on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.?? Advanced lessons are available for those ages 10 to 18 years old on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.?? Lesson times vary depending on age. The cost for 6 weeks of lessons is $50.00 for residents and $75.00 for non-residents .?? A youth league option is available for those 14 to 18 years old and is $40 per league.?? Tennis camp enrollment is not required but registration is necessary.??
This year the Parks & Recreation Department has implemented a tennis/summer camp option for ages 6 through 13 years old and who are Pawtucket residents only.?? This option will allow a child to participate in both programs with the tennis camp being the focus.?? There are very limited openings for this option and those who are interested are asked to acquire a Slater Park summer camp packet and a tennis camp registration form.?? The summer camp packet will outline the specifics of registering and other details including cost and a summary of the season???s program.??
Adult league registrations are currently being accepted through Friday, May 26th.?? Leagues start the week of June 5th and consist of a men???s doubles, men???s singles, women???s doubles and a women???s singles league beginning on Thursday, June 8th.
Limited openings remain for the Adult Tennis Clinics taking place at Slater Park on Saturday mornings starting May 13th.?? Participants have the option to take part in a 6 week beginner and intermediate or advanced program based upon skill level.??
Adults will have an opportunity to compete at a higher level in the 44th Pawtucket Open Tennis Tournament taking place August 24th through the 26th.?? Divisions will include Men???s Singles 3.0, Singles 4.0, Men???s Senior 50+, Men???s Doubles, Women???s Singles and Women???s Doubles.?? Registration forms and further details will be available at a later date.??
