Washington State Joins RI to Pay Dreamers??? Renewal Fees
Following Governor Raimondo???s landmark announcement last week that no Rhode Island Dreamer will have to pay the $495 fee to renew his or her DACA status, Washington State Governor Jay Inslee announced yesterday that his state will implement a similar program to support Dreamers.
Governor Inslee and Governor Raimondo understand that Dreamers are Americans. They’re our neighbors, classmates, students, employees and friends. We must not allow $495 to stand in the way of their dreams.
Any resident whose DACA status is set to expire before March 5 is strongly encouraged to submit their application no later than October 3, 2017. In Rhode Island, a coalition of community advocacy groups is ready and willing to assist with application submission and provide pro-bono legal services.
