Pawtucket Swears-In Two New Firefighters

F PAWTUCKET Mayor Speaks to Firefighters

PAWTUCKET – On Wednesday, Mayor Donald R. Grebien, Acting Public Safety Director Police Chief Tina Goncalves, and Fire Chief William Sisson welcomed Mr. Keith P. Gill and Mr. Zeth E. Tucker to the rank of Firefighter.

 

“I welcome Firefighters Gill and Tucker two our team,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “These men will help us to continue our public safety efforts and protect the health of our residents. I also want to extend my appreciation to the entire Department for dedicating themselves to serving our community.”

 

“The Pawtucket Fire Department welcomes the two new firefighters to the department. Their training will be a continuing process throughout their careers. This is a big day in the life of a firefighter. We all remember the day we were sworn in to the best job in the world,” said Fire Chief Sisson.

 

With the addition of Firefighters Gill and Tucker, the department is now up to 153 firefighters. 21 have been added this year. Gill and Tucker After being trained and graduating from the RI Fire Academy in Exeter, the new firefighters will be assigned to platoons and will serve on all apparatus prior to being permanently assigned.

 

The Pawtucket Fire Department has supplemented the City’s emergency fleet with a new Rescue unit and Pumper engine. The new vehicles, running since November, have replaced the older Engine 1 and Rescue 2. Both older vehicles will be retained as part of the reserve fleet. The Department also has a new Rescue on the way.
