WEAVER LIBRARY: IF YOU LOVE ME

If You Love Me: A Mother’s Journey Through Her Daughter’s Opioid Addiction

B JOY AUTHOR MaureenCavanagh

MAUREEN CAVANAUGH

On Monday, June 10, 2019 at 7 pm, Weaver Library invites you to an author talk and discussion with Maureen Cavanagh, author of If You Love Me: A Mother’s Journey Through Her Daughter’s Opioid Addiction.

As a mother, Ms. Cavanagh suddenly found herself on the front lines of the opioid epidemic. She shares her story as a parent and also as the founder of Magnolia New Beginnings, a nonprofit peer-support group for those living with or affected by substance use disorder.

Her book is gripping as she battles to keep her daughter alive, struggles with the overcrowded, for-profit rehab centers that often prey on worried parents, and feels the pain of her community’s judgment on her family.

Maureen Cavanagh has been recognized by the New York Times, CNN, and other outlets for her work fighting the opioid crisis and the stigma surrounding it.

Weaver Library is located at 41 Grove Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914. Questions? Contact Joyce at 401-434-2453 or
