Get a preview of the upcoming month long Pawtucket Arts Festival as the city offers a taste of diverse ethnic, alternative and unique celebrations over the August 20-121 weekend in Rhode Island???s Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park.

Pawtucket serves as the gateway to the National Park, recognized for being the actual birthplace of our country???s Industrial Revolution, begun here almost 225 years ago, when Samuel Slater started textile manufacturing in his now famed Slater Mill Historic Site.??

Today, Pawtucket is known more for being a Southern New England center thriving on creative talents in cultural arts and entertainment, fine arts and design, and entrepreneurs in every field.

Over the weekend the city ramps up it annual Pawtucket Arts Festival with a sneak peek of exciting happenings to please all interests.??

Grecian culture celebration

The top weekend event is the always popular 2016 Annual Greek Festival RI running Friday-Sunday, August 19-21. This 89th annual Grecian Festival is at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket, RI.

Hours are Friday 5-10 pm, Saturday 12 noon-10 pm, and Sunday 12 noon-9 pm.??

Public parking is available in the lots across from Pawtucket City Hall, on Roosevelt Avenue, where shuttles will transport to and from the festival site.

Experience authentic Grecian food, entertainment, shopping and dance celebrating Rhode Island???s Greek heritage and community.

Pawtucket showcases its tapestry of diverse musical talents through a new festival that began just a few years ago that brings convergence of sights and sounds.

Machines With Magnets presents the 2016 DOTAir Festival, Saturday, August 20, 4-11 pm, at the Downtown Pawtucket Parking Garage, at the corner of Main Street & Park Place.??

DOTAir is a music-focused experimental festival celebrating the sound and performance experimentation that grows out of the social and physical aspects of the American Industrial Revolution. Guest and bands alike will experience a new perspective to explore art, sound, and performance, in ways that utilize creative spaces left behind by modern and post-modern technology and culture.

Our furry friends are not left out of festivals, as they are center stage at one event over the weekend.

August 20-21, both days starting at 11 am, bring your pet to enjoy the 2016 Annual Pawtucket Dogapalooza, inside scenic Slater Memorial Park, located in Pawtucket, off Newport Avenue (Route 1-A)

Proceeds from this festival will benefit the Pawtucket Dog Park at Slater Memorial Park. Events include family fun activities, canine contest, food entertainment and more!

Established in June 2011, the Pawtucket Dog Park has become a beloved location within??Slater Memorial Park to bring your dogs to run, play and socialize with others.
