Governor Gina M. Raimondo hosted a ceremonial bill signing to name part of Route 114 “The 1st Sergeant P. Andrew McKenna Memorial Highway.”

First Sgt. P. Andrew McKenna, U.S. Army Special Forces, was killed last summer??in??the events surrounding??a suicide bombing attack in Kabul, Afghanistan. “First Sgt. McKenna served our nation with great valor and courage,” Raimondo said. “All Rhode Islanders are grateful for his service. Naming this memorial highway is a way for Rhode Islanders to recognize and remember this American hero.

I commend the General Assembly for acting, and it was an honor to sign these bills.” The bill signing at the RI Veterans Home in Bristol followed the swift passage of bills sponsored by Rep. Jan P.??Malik and Sen. Walter Felag, Jr.??in the??House??and??Senate??this week.
