This weekend, Slater Mill Historic Site, 67 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI, offers two ways to discover local history and gardening.
Every Saturday in May, at 10 am, take a 90 minute walking tour of 1670???s Pawtucket. Long before Slater Mill was built in 1793 to be the icon of America???s Industrial Revolution through textile manufacturing, the site was known a century earlier for ironworks. Walking tour tickets are just $5/person.??
In this guided tour you will find out how the current Downtown Pawtucket area became the Joseph Jenks, Jr. settlement and discover early heritage and culture connections.
Also, Saturday, May 13, at 10 am, Slater Mill is hosting a Master Gardener Workshop with the University of Rhode Island; Join in this FREE public presentation from the Rhode Island Tree Council on how trees are vital to our local environment.

Themed pop culture event with history
Fans of the famed PBS miniseries Downton Abbey will want to enjoy a Downton Abbey Tea event happening at historic Hearthside House, on the Great Road Historic District, Lincoln, RI on Saturday, May 13.
This memorable afternoon themed in the grandeur of a formal tea, celebrates the beloved characters of Downton Abbey, including a special presentation by fashion historian Ren Antonowicz on “Footwear and Fribbles” (shoes, hats and accessories) that were as much of the lure of the show as the storyline and characters.
Guests encouraged to wear show inspired outfits, footwear and accessories.
Tickets are $34/person and $30 for museum members, and feature a raffle, prizes, museum tour, shopping, and more!

This live stage performance honors the 50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love – 1967, focusing on musical highlights of that year (as well as great songs from 1968 and 1969) which unofficially kicked off with the release of The Beatles Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band plus the release of many seminal rock albums.
