DOORS OPEN PAWTUCKET + CENTRAL FALLS

FREE citywide open house festival unlocks the doors of
Pawtucket and Central Falls on Saturday, September 28

PAWTUCKET, RI – For one day only on Saturday September 28, Doors Open RI returns with a festival that will provide free, behind-the-scenes access to several unique places and spaces across Pawtucket and Central Falls. Participating locations have a combination of architectural, historical and / or cultural significance, which together tell the story of what makes these two neighboring cities so special. Visitors will build their own explorations of participating venues, each activated with programming and interpretation.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to:

Behold the unexpected grandeur of the hidden dome in The Old Industrial Trust Company building;

Peek behind the clock faces of Cogswell Tower and explore the rarely-seen grotto upon which it stands;

Step into the dugout of McCoy Stadium and visit the players lounge;

Explore a deactivated 1896 power station once hailed as the most powerful in New England;

Meet with Mayor Grebian inside of his office in Pawtucket City Hall

And more!

See the still-growing list of participating venues here. New for this year’s festival, visitors will also be encouraged to participate in a citywide Scavenger Hunt to compete for prizes.

Visitors will use a printed festival guide and mobile enabled website to pick and choose where they want to explore, getting themselves between participating sites by whatever method they choose – on foot, by car, bus or bike.

Access to festival sites is free of charge and does not require reservations, but participants are encouraged to sign up for festival newsletters and follow Doors Open RI on social media (@doorsopenri) for last minute announcements.

The Doors Open RI Festival is part of a movement of free, citywide “Doors Open” and “Open House” events that take place annually in over 50 cities around the world. Doors Open RI hosted their first such festival in Providence in 2017, when over 4,000 people explored 24 different locations spread across the city.
