Pawtucket and Central Falls Join Forces on Restaurant Weeks
Pawtucket – The Pawtucket Central Falls Restaurant Week Committee, City of Pawtucket, and the City of Central Falls have announced that the two cities will host combined Restaurant Weeks from August 31st to September 13th.
“The coronavirus pandemic has truly impacted our restaurants. Having one Restaurant Week event for two weeks in both cities will allow for a combined effort to promote all of our diverse restaurants,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “I would like to thank the Pawtucket City Council for once again backing this significant initiative to promote our city and our restaurants. I would also like to thank the Committee and the Mayor Diossa for their time and commitment to ensuring the success of this event in both Pawtucket and Central Falls.”
“This year we are hoping to help our restaurants recover as much as possible from the effects of the pandemic on their business,” said Mayor James A. Diossa. “With two weeks of non-stop promotion of our restaurants, we hope to attract people from around the state to try the great cuisine of Central Falls and Pawtucket. Thank you to everyone who has worked to continue planning this year’s Restaurant Week during the Coronavirus pandemic.”
This year, the City will not be placing any special requirements to not place any further burden on restaurants. Restaurant patrons who dine-in, get takeout, or get delivery from the local restaurants can post a picture of their meal with #PCFRestaurantChallenge on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter for the chance to win restaurant gift cards. The top prize is $250 in restaurant gift cards.
“The Restaurant Week Committee is excited to have chosen the dates for the 2020 Pawtucket Restaurant Weeks,” said Committee Member and Senator Sandra Cano. “We are doing something a little different than has been done in the past amid the ongoing pandemic. We look forward to promoting all of our fantastic restaurants in our community and welcome restaurant goers both from within and outside of the city.”
“Restaurant Week in Pawtucket Central Falls is taking on a different spin during this unique COVID year,” said Committee member and Executive Director of the Pawtucket Foundation Jan Brodie. “Instead of asking the restaurants for specials, we are doing something special for THEM. We hope many local residents and visitors safely take on the 2020 PCF Restaurant Challenge!!
The Pawtucket Restaurant Week Committee consists of representatives from the City of Pawtucket, the City of Central Falls, the Pawtucket Foundation, Navigant Credit Union, the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, and local community leaders.
