Six Flags New England Bets Against Six Flags Over Texas
Agawam, MA. — June 4, 2024 – Six Flags New England and its sister park Six Flags Over Texas, located in Arlington, have set a friendly wager for the upcoming NBA Finals series kicking off on Thursday, June 6.
As expected, Six Flags New England will be cheering on the eleven-time champions, the Boston Celtics, while Six Flags Over Texas supports their beloved Mavericks. This friendly competition between sister parks will have a lot more at stake than just bragging rights for the winning team.
If (or when) the Boston Celtics were to win the series, Six Flags Over Texas will be responsible for the following:
· Six Flags Over Texas will rename their Texas Giant roller coaster to the “Boston Giant”
· Six Flags Over Texas will provide free admission for one week to anyone from Massachusetts with a valid ID. Dates TBD at conclusion of NBA finals.
· A Traditional Celtic band will follow Six Flags Over Texas Park President, Richard Douaihy, around for an entire day.
· Six Flags Over Texas will send Six Flags New England Texan favorites, including Chicken Fried Steak, Texas Chili, and Tex-Mex.
· Six Flags Over Texas will serve Boston cream pies to the first 100 guests entering the park. Date TBD at conclusion of NBA finals.
On the flip side (and highly unlikely), if the Dallas Mavericks were to claim the title, Six Flags New England will be responsible for the following:
· Six Flags New England will rename their New England SkyScreamer to “Dallas SkyScreamer.”
· Six Flags New England will provide free admission for one week to anyone from Texas with a valid ID. Dates TBD at conclusion of NBA finals.
· A Country Western band will follow Six Flags New England’s Park President, Pete Carmichael, for an entire day.
· Six Flags New England will send iconic Bostonian treats to its sister park, including Boston Cream Donuts, New England Clam Chowder, and Boston Baked Beans.
· Six Flags New England will serve Dallas Pecan Pie to the first 100 guests entering the park. Date TBD at conclusion of NBA Finals.
“As a proud supporter of our local New England sports teams, I am not afraid to put it all on the line in support of our Celtics,” said Six Flags New England Park President Pete Carmichael. “I paid dearly when our beloved Bruins lost to the Blues in 2019, having a Blues band follow me around the park for the day! I plan to enjoy paying that part of the bet forward to our friends at Six Flags Over Texas when the Celtics win their 12th NBA championship!”
