LTE: PAWTUCKET MAYOR DON GREBIEN

Dear Pawtucket Residents,

news letter

Pawtucket is building, and the results are showing! Across the city, we are creating opportunities for residents and businesses while investing in the future of our community.

The Pawtucket-Central Falls Commuter Rail Station is already proving to be a game changer. With 40 weekday and 18 weekend MBTA stops and multiple RIPTA connections, the station is making it easier than ever to connect to Boston and beyond. In response to growing ridership, the city has added 270 new parking spaces and recently broke ground on a new passenger amenity building that will improve the travel experience for residents and visitors alike.

This kind of transit-oriented development is helping to drive new energy into our neighborhoods. New housing near the station will welcome more people into the city and support small businesses in the area. I eagerly await the completion of the Dexter Street Commons project, which will bring modern living and creative public spaces to the heart of Pawtucket. It will also offer a mix of market-rate and workforce housing with community and convenience at its core.

We are also transforming historic spaces into new hubs of activity. The redevelopment of 390 Pine Street now combines affordable housing with a yoga studio, an art and weaving studio, a food pantry, and spaces for wellness and support services. This project serves as an example of how our historic spaces have been revitalized for the public good.

One of the largest new developments that the city looks forward to is the Unified High School, and I am so excited to attend next week’s groundbreaking. The next few weeks will also see the opening of the Stadium at Tidewater Landing; an undertaking that will continue to bring an influx of jobs, tourism, and revenue to the City.

Pawtucket is moving forward. These investments reflect our belief in the strength of this city and the potential of every resident. Thank you for being part of the progress.

Warm regards,
Mayor Donald Grebien
