REVOLVE DANCE PROVIDENCE – SEASON FOUR

Revolve Dance Project presents Sound In Form

Live Dance and Music & Dance – Revolve Dance Project Presents Season 4
Choreographers and Composers Collaborate to Create Thrilling New Works

Providence, RI Music and dance collaborative company Revolve Dance Project (RDP) presents its Season 4 performances, Sound in Form, on Sunday, June 29th at 2:00PM & 6:00PM at The Strand Ballroom & Theatre, 79 Washington Street in downtown Providence.

RDP, a 501(c) (3) was created by husband-and-wife duo Kirsten and Cameron MacIntosh with the mission of bringing world class live music and dance to the Rhode Island stage. For the past four seasons, the organization has presented some of the most extraordinary talent from Rhode Island and beyond, resulting in new and exciting programs that showcase young choreographers’ and composers’ original works.

The diverse group of performers deliver an eclectic array of genres, with music and dance styles ranging from neoclassical, contemporary, modern, jazz, indie, pop, and everything in between. Participants include members of The New York City Ballet, Boston Ballet, Ballet West, Julliard and New England Conservatory graduates and musicians, a Grammy recognized performer, and more.

“We’re so excited to highlight our incredible musicians this year by bringing the shows to a legendary Providence music venue [The Strand],” says RDP Director Kirsten MacIntosh, adding, “The Strand is a perfect space for us, as our project is about pushing the boundaries of live music and dance, and celebrating the many ways the two art forms help each other thrive.”

Sound in Form will include seven World Premiere pieces, as well as the return of last year’s audience favorite “Runner’s High,” by choreographer Kurt Douglas and composer/cellist Daniel Hass. Additional works are:

· A brand-new pas de deux created for New York City Ballet Principal Dancers Indiana Woodward and Gilbert Bolden III, choreographed by NYCB dancer Laine Habony, will feature an original score by Katie Jenkins, a recent Juilliard Master of Music graduate.

· Boston-based choreographer Dara Capley will take on a large ensemble piece, featuring the entire company of dancers and musicians, with music written and performed by composer/singer Katie Martucci.
· The explosive and brilliant pas de deux “Bones,” by world-renowned choreographer Lauren Lovette in collaboration with drummer/composer Cameron MacIntosh (which premiered in RDP’s 2024 season), will return with an all-new second movement in collaboration with cellist/composer Daniel Hass.

· Also returning to the festival is Boston-based violinist/composer Josh Knowles. Knowles lends his signature striking and expressive music to two pieces this year, collaborating with Ballet West dancer/choreographer Emily Adams on a solo for Ballet West dancer Joe Lynch, as well as Boston Ballet Principal Dancer Jeffrey Cirio on a solo for Ballet RI dancer Katie Vigly.
· NYC-based freelance choreographer Danielle Diniz will also be making her debut with RDP this season, along with composer/trumpet player Anthony Hervey, who will write and perform the music.

· Rounding out the program is another first-time RDP choreographer, freelance dancer Luis Ocaranza in collaboration with singer/songwriter Katie Martucci. This pas de deux, featuring dancers Kailee Felix (freelance) and Aram Hengen (New Jersey Ballet), is set to music performed acoustically by Martucci, providing an even more intimate experience for both the artists and the audience.

The company builds its programs during a brief, focused three-week process. During this period, the composers, choreographers, musicians and dancers come together to perfect and rehearse the program. This process coincides with RDP’s Educational Community Programming, a partnership with the Metamorphosis Dance Company in Pawtucket, which provides low-cost summer dance intensive workshops.

This masterclass series is designed to serve dance students of all ages and abilities, offering a wide range of educational opportunities including classical ballet, theater jazz, Pilates, choreographic workshops, company repertory, and more.
