Weekly Recap

This week in Pawtucket was a powerful reminder of what makes our city special. From honoring cultural heritage to celebrating student success and community leadership, we saw firsthand how the people of Pawtucket continue to shape a bright and inclusive future. The City proudly took part in a meaningful Jewish American Heritage Month celebration, reflecting on the values and stories that bring us together. We also joined College Visions in uplifting the accomplishments of first-generation students whose drive and determination inspire us all.

Youth empowerment took center stage at Jenks Middle School, where students participated in a hands-on workshop with RI Women in the Trades. They built confidence and broke barriers through learning how to construct bird feeders and toolboxes. At Winters Elementary, students lit up the stage with an unforgettable performance of The Lion King Kids. Meanwhile, young artists from the Boys & Girls Club shared their appreciation through heartfelt artwork for public service workers, reminding us of the kindness that keeps our city connected.

We also recognized leadership across generations this week. The Pawtucket Veterans Council swore in its newest officers who continue the important work of serving those who served. City staff welcomed leaders from RISCA and NEFA to the City Hall Gallery as we highlighted our local arts community. Pawtucket’s smart planning efforts earned recognition at the 2025 RI Smart Growth Awards and we were proud to be featured in a new RIHEBC video that showcases how investments in education and health help communities thrive. It was a week full of heart, purpose and pride in what we are building together.
