Young and Energetic Dancers and Musicians Collaborate to Create Fresh, Exciting New Works

The Strand Ballroom & Theatre

Providence, RI – Revolve Dance Project, now in its fourth season, is proud to present its thrilling new program, Sound in Form, Sunday, June 29th at 2:00PM & 6:00PM at downtown Providence’s  iconic The Strand Ballroom & Theatre, 79 Washington Street. Ticket holders will be able to enjoy a special discount the weekend of the performance at The George, 121 Washington Street, where RDP will present a mini “sneak peek” of the show on Wednesday, June 25.

Each year, RDP brings a group of talented professional composers, choreographers, dancers, and musicians to Providence where they work together for a few short weeks prior to the performances to create an entirely new show. This year’s extraordinary lineup features young and emerging artists from RI and beyond, including graduates of The Juilliard School and dancers from the New York City Ballet.

Sound in Form will include eight original works, featuring six world premieres and the restaging of last year’s audience-favorite, “Runner’s High.” An extended version of renowned choreographer Lauren Lovette’s “Bones” will also be on the program.

The project is the brainchild of married couple Kirsten and Cameron MacIntosh, a dancer and a musician respectively. Kristin said, “Our goal is to share our love for and belief in the transformative power of live music and dance to as many people as possible.” MacIntosh added, “We have both developed such vast networks of artists and friends between our work in both Providence and New York City. Revolve gives us the extraordinary chance to bring everyone together in a sort of ‘supergroup’, where we get to take the risks, test our ideas, and create brand new experiences for our audiences,” adds MacIntosh.

Revolve Dance Project is the only company of its kind in Rhode Island, bringing all original collaborations of live music and dance to one stage. Every performance showcases a wide range of genres and styles, including classical, jazz, modern, contemporary, indie, pop, and more. Sound In Form promises to be an unforgettable celebration of music and movement.

This show is not to be missed!
